ADULT BALLET

The classical dance form, with its highly specialised form of training works towards a poised upright posture, physical strength, a good sense of balance, coordination, musicality and rhythm and develops mental concentration and discipline. A ballet class means different things at different stages however.

Many dancers give up in their teens due to pressures of school work. At this stage you have gained a lot of knowledge which is possible to tap into again later. Coming back to classes is like riding a bicycle, you are in the swing of it again before you know it.

If you know simple allegro vocabulary such as glissade, assemblé, jeté, pas-de-chat, balancé, pas-de-bourreé, come and try our Tuesday evening class!

Each class builds from the barre exercises you will recognise to centre work, pirouettes and allegro finishing with travelling steps. It is designed to be fun, not testing and to take you away for 75 minutes from the chores and tasks of everyday life.

WHAT TO WEAR

Close fitting dance wear or sports clothing. Wear what you feel comfortable in,
whether leotard, tights and wrap around skirt or casual sports clothing and soft ballet shoes.

Sports socks are an option for the first time you attend a class to allow the foot to point and give a little protection to the sole of the foot but ballet shoes are highly recommended from then on.
